The next lecture from the series on the history of the development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 19:00 at the PORA site (Koroviy Val str., 7, p.1)

The Northern Sea Route is a strategic highway, but few people really understand its functions, capabilities, or even borders. Did you know that it doesn't start from Murmansk, and if so, why? What kind of cargo is transported along the NSR? What happened to the highway in the 1990s? Why did they recreate the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route? Nadezhda Zamyatina, geographer, Director of the Center for Arctic and Northern Urban Studies at the A.A. Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urban Studies, Faculty of Urban and Regional Development at the Higher School of Economics, will talk about these and other issues.
