Our Expert Center was launched to support development projects in the Russian Arctic. We focus on social, economic and environmental aspects of human activity in Russia’s North. The Project Office for the Development of the Arctic (PORA) implements programs throughout the Russian Arctic, supports young scholars, and works to increase public awareness of the Arctic issues.

Marina Goretskaya
Mrs. Goretskaya is a member of the International Journalists Association. She managed a range of corporate media projects. She is a Silver Archer Laureate (Russia’s top PR award), and worked for major international and Russian-based corporations and NGOs. Her experience includes managing PR and advertisement departments at, as well as providing advice for, large companies operating in various fields such as health care, science and research, academia, sport, tourism, pharmaceuticals, FMCG etc. She also worked as press secretary and press room manager for a number of state institutions. Mrs. Goretskaya is involved with charity work, and helps running a charitable foundation.

Aleksandr Vorotnikov
Expert in spatial development, public-private partnership, cluster policies, environment and tourism. Mr. Vorotnikov held office of Economy Minister of the Chuvash Republic, as well as various positions at the Economic Development Ministry of Russia and VEB Bank. He is also a lecturer and researcher (RANEPA Associate Professor, PhD. in Chemistry). Mr. Vorotnikov is a member of the Community Board Expert Club at the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, an expert at the Moscow Regional Office of the Business Russia association, and an advisor to the co-Chairperson of the Environmental Chamber of Russia NGO.

Andrei Ivanov
Participant of, and contributor to, a number of Arctic-related projects and ecological expeditions, Mr. Ivanov currently works as chief editor of the Arctic-Info news agency and executive director of the Green Arctic NGO. Member of the Polar Explorers Association. In 2016-2018, he worked as aid to the Member of Parliament for the Yamal Autonomous Area, the Khanty Autonomous Area, and the Tyumen Region, and chaired Arctic-related workshops at the Arctic and Antarctic Council of the upper house of the Russian Parliament.
Mr. Ivanov relies on a vast experience gained in different fields. He spent 10 years in investment and industrial sector companies, 5 years in merger and acquisition (including in oil and gas sector), and 5 years as manager of a geological engineering company. He has more than 10 year experience in lecturing on improving capitalization as part of MBA programs at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.

Sergei Nikonorov
Mr. Nikonorov is a renowned expert in territorial and corporate sustainable development, and project and financial management. Key Interests: natural resources management, green finance, project funding and project analysis, business planning. Academic background: Doctor of Economics, Professor, Deputy Chair of the Environmental Economics Department at the Faculty of Economics, the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Member of the Ecological Council at the Parliamentary Committee for Natural Resources, Environmental Management and Environment; Member of the Community Board at the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources; Member of the Work Group for Supporting the Use of Water Resources by SMEs at the Research and Technology Board of the Federal Agency for Water Resources.
